What is facet radiofrequency?
Facet radiofrequency is a procedure that numbs the nerve endings that go to small joints in the neck, mid-back, and low back. This procedure is used to provide long-lasting relief for at least six months to a year and avoid further more severe treatments like surgery.
This is commonly done after a diagnostic facet block has been done confirming that the origin of the pain is in that joint. The procedure is easily done with local anesthetic and mild sedation and it usually takes about 10 minutes. The advantage is that it can provide very long-lasting relief.
